# Run Period Closing

> Set closing dates to prevent changes to historical accounting data

Period closing prevents changes to completed accounting periods by setting a closing date.

## Setting a Closing Date

1. Navigate to **Settings** → **Period Closing**
2. Select your entity
3. Choose closing date
4. Click **Save**

## Impact of Closing

After setting a closing date:

* Cannot create or edit entries before that date
* Can still view historical data and run reports
